Gin of the month February
White and Black magic from Torino.
AUGUSTA and TAURINORUM
by IMMENSUS
In northern Italy lies a city of contrasts, with elegant boulevards and baroque palaces by day and secrets and legends by night.
Turin has long been considered one of Europe’s most esoteric cities, and according to age-old myth and occult tradition, it sits at the intersection of two
mystical triangles. One is associated with white magic, and the other is tied to black magic.
This dual nature of light and darkness, clarity and mystery, is the backdrop against which Augusta and Taurinorum were born.
These two gins by Immensus feel like a glimpse into Turin’s soul:
-
Augusta captures the white magic: bright, fresh, and uplifting, much like the city’s historic Piazza Castello and the symbolic energy of the Mole Antonelliana.
-
Taurinorum evokes its darker side: deeper, warmer and contemplative, reminiscent of the stories tied to places like Piazza Statuto and the city’s nocturnal legends.
Here, in February, where winter lingers and days slowly grow longer again, this balance feels just right. A city of light and dark reflected in glass and therefore a rightful Gin of the month February.
AUGUSTA
“Freshness without sharp edges.”
Fresh. Focused. Precise.
Tasting notes

When I open it:
Clean and immediate.
Fresh citrus peel leads, followed by soft juniper and a light aromatic lift.
Nothing sharp. Nothing forced.
When I taste it:
Bright and well-defined.
Juniper forms the backbone, supported by mandarin and bitter orange.
Ligurian chinotto adds a gentle bitterness, while Timut pepper brings a subtle, almost floral spice rather than heat.
When I swallow it:
Dry, clean, and lightly bitter.
A grapefruit-like freshness lingers briefly before fading.
Mouthfeel
Light to medium-bodied.
Crisp and precise, with a clear structure.
Best serve suggestion
Gin & Tonic with a Mediterranean or light citrus tonic.
Garnish sparingly — mandarin peel or grapefruit zest.
Gin.whis notes
Augusta is about clarity.
Fresh citrus, clean structure.
It stays precise, balanced, and composed, especially in a well-made Gin & Tonic.
Producer: Immensus Gin
Style: Botanical Distilled Gin
ABV: 40%

TAURINORUM
“Spice, depth, evening pace.”
Deep. Warm. Deliberate.
Tasting notes

When I open it:
Deep and warm in character.
Dark citrus from Laraha orange, followed by cinnamon and soft spice.
Inviting rather than intense.
When I taste it:
Full-bodied and composed.
Juniper remains present but doesn't dominate.
Cinnamon and clove add warmth, a gentle peppery undertone developing halfway
When I swallow it:
Long and dry.
Warming spice lingers, fading slowly.
Mouthfeel
Rounded and slightly oily.
A gin that feels confident.
Best serve suggestion
Perfect Neat, or with a small amount of dry tonic.
Garnish with orange peel or a restrained cinnamon accent.
Gin.whis notes
Warm spice, depth, and a confident character.
It isn’t built for refreshment, but best enjoyed slowly, and give it space to linger.
I can only advise to at least try this gin neat as the good people from Immensus Gin intended it.
